Grantmaking
The Christel DeHaan Family Foundation (CDFF) issues grants to entities that offer valuable contributions to the development and enhancement of the arts in central Indiana, with a specific focus on the Indianapolis community.
CDFF supports organizations that are classified as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and as public charities under section 509(a)(1), (2) or (3) of the Code.
We do not support:
- individuals
- other private foundations
- political candidates, parties, or lobbyists
- Type III 509(a)(3) Supporting Organizations

Funding Criteria
We are proud to be a member of the Indianapolis philanthropic community. We primarily provide support to performing and supporting arts organizations that enrich the cultural fabric of the Indianapolis community through their diverse artistic contributions and organizational excellence. We also support a select number of organizations that provide high-quality arts education to at-risk youth in Marion County.
- Summer Youth Program Fund: CDFF is a partner in the Summer Youth Program Fund (SYPF). The SYPF is a collaborative grantmaking effort among local organizations who support agencies that provide summer programming for youth in Marion County, Indiana. - Board Discretionary Grants: As a Family Foundation, we recognize the importance of allowing each board member to pursue personal philanthropic interests through discretionary grant recommendations which may be outside our focus area.
- Special Project Grants: Some non-arts organizations may receive limited financial support based on past support provided by the Foundation and the organization's mission and standing in the community.
All potential applicants must discuss their proposals with Foundation staff before preparing an application. We do not accept unsolicited proposals.
